Description
There are approximately 50 children who attend this centre every day, who live in the surrounding slum areas of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Each day, these children are provided a meal and snacks. Here they can take care of their hygienic needs, they get to participate in workshops (art, music, theatre), and they are assisted with school work. The kids are given much love, affection and support from the staff and volunteers. Our international volunteers provide assistance in all aspects of child care, and maintenance of the centre.
The founder, Silvia Landriel, is a teacher who opened this centre 3 years ago, as a way to get children off of the streets and into school. One of the conditions of enrollment in the centre, is that all children must be enrolled in the school. The children range in age from 2 to 17 years old.
Due to the demands of enrolment, Silvia has started construction of a new centre so more children from impoverished families in the area can attend. She has been so successful in continuing her work with these children, due to fantastic assistance from international volunteers. An amazing project doing amazing things!
