Description

Costa Rica is known as the Switzerland of Central America, has an abundance of natural beauty and is populated by a friendly, well-educated people. This small country is a paradise for nature lovers with national parks, jungles, volcanoes, beaches and more water per square mile than any other country in the world, excluding New Zealand.

Costa Rica is one of the world's most popular places for volunteering. The projects in the National Parks are highly recommended. You can collect turtle's eggs on the Pacific Coast, do trail maintenance in the Cloud Forest or guide tourists through an orchid garden. But there is much more! We also have projects in Eco-farms, a Butterfly Garden and a Bird Protection program. If you'd prefer to work in Community Service, you can assist in a remote Educational Outreach, work as a teacher's assistant in Heredia, or give much needed company to the elderly. Some projects are located in rural areas, but many are situated in and around Heredia which allows you to keep up with your social life. Heredia is a university town, very vibrant and active, with an abundance of cafes, restaurants, bars and venues with art and live music. For those looking for an internship, we offer many options in Costa Rican businesses in the Central Valley area.

AmeriSpan Study Abroad's Mission Statement

Our mantra is "Every Language, Every Culture, Everywhere." AmeriSpan Study Abroad has over 15 years experience and over 30,000 past participants. Our staff has three passions: language, culture, and travel. Individually and as a group, we have accumulated experiences and knowledge related to these passions. AmeriSpan's staff has traveled to more than 65 countries, every continent except Antarctica, speak 10 languages, and we are happy to share this enormous amount of relevant knowledge with you. Every staff member has studied and/or lived abroad for extended periods of time. We are neither a language school nor a travel agent, we're a hybrid of the two: a language travel organization. AmeriSpan has evaluated hundreds of schools, host families and destinations to determine which programs to offer, and our independence allows us to give you unbiased evaluations of these programs. Our pledge to our participants is to make going abroad 'worry-free'. There is no risk in choosing an AmeriSpan program because you'll get the best program, best price and can cancel for any reason and get a full refund on every dollar we have received for your program.
