Location: Austria: Feldkirch
Program Duration: 2-4 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: August 22 - September 12
CADIP - Canadian Alliance for Development Initiatives and Projects
353-1350 Burrard Street Vancouver, British Columbia V6Z 0C2 Canada
Description
During the summer holidays, the youth council of Feldkirch organizes a big playground for children from 6-12 years old who will create their own town called "KleinFeldkirch". In this town there will be town's own parliament and institutions like a bakery, a hairdresser, a restaurant, a bank, etc.
The international volunteer group will help to run this big playground. It will be an advantage if volunteers have creative or technical skills. Last time "KleinFeldkirch" was a big success; the children had a lot of fun. On average, 150 children per day participated in "KleinFeldkirch". Volunteers should be ready to lead one of the workshops or institutions on their own and prepare their own ideas. Because of the presence of the children, work can be quite turbulent sometimes. Volunteers should be prepared to work long hours and should like to be around children a lot.
Feldkirch is a town in Austria, directly on the border with Liechtenstein and Switzerland, with approx. 30.000 inhabitants. Feldkirch is a beautiful town situated in the Rhine valley and surrounded by the summits of the Alps. Nearest airports are Zuerich (Switzerland) and Friedrichshafen (Germany).
