Description
Coorg or Kodagu (originally called Kodaimalenadu) means dense forest on a steep hill. It is a rural district located near the city of Mysore (Karnataka State) amongst a scenery of misty hills, lush forest, acres and acres of tea and coffee plantation, orange groves, undulating streets and breathtaking views.
The international volunteer projects in Coorg will focus on environmental protection, re-forestation, greening Asia projects, working along with different NGOs to spread health and hygiene awareness among the tribal villages, and working together for the local schools in teaching English, building playgrounds, and assisting various underprivileged schools. The activities will vary and will always involve some manual work.
This is one of the most beautiful places in India, completely surrounded by nature!
The international volunteer group will be working in several villages (Guntikopa, Ponnampet, Madikeri), District of Kodagu (Coorg), Karnataka State. Coorg is accessible from Mysore, Bangalore or Mangalore by bus. Bangalore has an international airport.
