Grassroots Community Organizing Internship

Description

Specific work will be based on the needs of the program as well as the abilities of the person applying for the internship in 3 specific areas which the intern can name their preference:

1. Women's businesses: (business administration, accounting, women's rights, and/or project development experience preferred)
* Accompany CIS promoters in evaluation process with small businesses.
* The intern would be responsible for transcribing the evaluation in Spanish and translating them to English to report to donors and CIS grassroots team.
* For persons with business administration or related background, can assist in developing and/or giving workshops on administration, commercialization, financial administration, basic accounting, calculating costs, etc.

2. CIS youth formation and scholarship program: (educational background preferred)
* Evaluate and write up experiences with community service programs the youth are carrying out.
* Impart workshops on diverse topics: environment, sexual and reproductive rights, women's rights, human rights, organic gardening, mining, water filters, etc.
* Help systematize and write up guides and methodology for workshop leaders.

3. Clean water campaign: (environmental, science, community organizing background preferred)
* Accompany CIS promoter in workshops on awareness raising about clean water, distribution of filters, evaluating use of filters, and how to use filters correctly.
* Investigate and write up recommendations about different types of filters.
* Build relations with Universities to carry out lab investigations on the quality of water in different communities.

Highlights

Process: send letter of interest and C.V. Each session we will except a maximum of 3 interns. Priority will be given to interns who apply at least 2 months in advance.
