Description
Volunteer in a community center for at-risk children in Buenos Aires. Homelessness and poverty are epidemics that affect many families in Argentina, including those living in the city of Buenos Aires. Instead of going to school, homeless children are often forced to sell goods on the streets and subways in order to buy food for themselves and their families. This means they are exposed to drugs, disease and violence and never have the opportunity to go to school. Volunteers at this placement will serve as a role models and mentors to the children. They will provide child care, meals, educational activities, and a safe haven. Some of the ongoing projects at the centers include social education projects, birthday parties for the children, field trips and after school tutoring and English lessons.
Highlights
Volunteers with this project will have the chance to influence the lives of children living in poverty while experiencing the richness of life in the sophisticated city of Buenos Aires.
