Description
ELI works with local organizations dedicated to the conservation and protection of sea turtles in the Pacific cost of Guatemala. Volunteers will work in a small village and will live with a family inside a community of local fishermen. Participants will be able to immerse themselves in the culture and work on a variety of projects while enjoying life on the beach.
During the off season volunteers will spend their time educating the community about the importance of the species and alternative sources of income, repairing turtle sanctuary facilities, public relations work, and other local habitat conservation projects. Personal projects within the community are also welcomed. These include teaching in the local schools, construction projects, and bottle collection and beach clean-up.
