Description
Volunteers will work at the various centers throughout the country to support the day to day activities including child care, education, art projects, therapy, mealtimes, sports and vocational training. Many children and young adults with developmental disabilities are not integrated into the regular school system, nor do they or their families have many resources to call upon. The centers we work with provide a vital service to the surrounding communities by supporting these kids and providing them with the skills they need to live happy, healthy lives.
Highlights
Projects are available throughout Ecuador - in the Amazon basin, the coastal plains, the highlands and the major cities. This is an opportunity to touch the lives of those most in need while also seeing the sights of this diverse and colorful South American country. Spanish classes available as well!
Qualifications
Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are needed to volunteer at centers for children with disabilities throughout Ecuador. All projects take place in 100% Spanish speak environments, so some knowledge of the language is required. Open-mindedness, flexibility and resourcefulness are also useful! Any experience or interest in physical or language therapy is valuable.
