Description

Costa Rica is a riot of colour and Latin spirit, where you will find towering volcanoes with lava coursing through their veins, epic coastlines where forests tumble down to the edge of the sandy shores, and vast swathes of the beautiful and precious cloud forests, home to a staggering variety of some of the world's most fascinating creatures.

What better way to immerse yourself in this exciting and vibrant culture than by throwing yourself whole heartedly into a local community building project? Developing and improving the infrastructure within these communities earns a lot of respect and can be incredibly satisfying to look back and see what you have achieved. This is not just about improving homes, schools and health centres but it is about improving the community's quality of life as a whole and bringing smiles to their faces.

* What will I be doing?

As a volunteer on this programme, you will have the wonderful opportunity to play a vital role in the improvement of living conditions within local communities in Costa Rica through the building of new homes, with a bit of help from the local builders of course! You will be working safe in the knowledge that you really have made a difference to someone's life.

The activities and tasks that you could be involved in will vary depending on the stage of the building work when you arrive, but there should be the opportunity to get involved in most aspects of the building process including laying foundations, mixing concrete, general labouring, putting down floors, roofing and building septic tanks.

No previous building experience is required to participate in this programme and there will be plenty of people that will be able to show you the ropes! All we ask is that you are willing to work hard, persevere and remain open minded.
