Description

You will be working alongside skilled local craftsmen to help in the construction of a children's village. Don't worry if you don't have any experience in construction. The tasks will be simple and you will be told exactly what to do - all you need is enthusiasm and a drop of elbow grease!

So far a primary school has been built which provides 350 children, many of whom are orphaned, the opportunity to attend school. A library and teacher's staff room has also been constructed within the primary school. A volunteer and orphan compound is currently in the process of being built. This compound will be able to house 30 orphans and 40 volunteers. This is very important as we want the children to grow up in a positive homely environment among other children and volunteers and not in an institutional "orphanage" environment.

We have big dreams for this village. The next endeavour is to construct a medical facility that is desperately needed in the area, as the closest medical centre is over 57 miles away! There are also plans to construct a secondary school in order to empower children of this village and give them an opportunity to achieve their goals. It is estimated that only 15% of Ugandans have access to secondary education. We want to provide the children the opportunity to gain an education so that in the future they can become teachers and leaders of Uganda, as education is the road to development.
