Description

Still unable to return to their homes, 1000s of internally displaced persons found refuge in IDP Camps in Kenya. An Internally Displaced Person has in general had the same experience as a refugee except has not crossed an international border. The need is great. Many have very limited access to basic necessities, like food and education. While others who suffer the effects caused by their traumatic experiences are left with no help.

Volunteers will help bring food and medical supplies to the camp. They will also be involved in community programs, providing support and counseling to the children and youth in camps and also in medical clinics, doing basic procedures, such as giving out medicine and attending to the patients as directed.

Living accomodations and meals in our Kenya progam are provided through pre-selected host families, where you will stay with other volunteers. Internet and mobile phones are readily available for international communication.

Highlights

At Global Village Volunteer Network (GVVN), our programs are designed to accommodate a wide range of volunteers and different levels of experience, from individuals with no international volunteering experience to those who are seasoned travelers and volunteers. Whether you are looking for a volunteer placement where you will be guided step-by-step or a program that needs initiative from volunteers, we will make sure you are placed in a program that you will get the most out of and are able to contribute to the most.

It is our goal to provide volunteers from all around the world with the most affordable, safe, memorable and fulfilling experience as they help improve the lives of those less fortunate than themselves. Through ongoing research, correspondence and travel to different projects all around the world, we aim to find quality projects that allow volunteers to get involved where they are needed most. Coming from diverse backgrounds and having volunteered internationally many times, we understand the concerns and needs of international volunteers. We are and will continue do everything in our power to ensure a great experience for all our volunteers.
