Description
This volunteering in the medical field will provide an enlightening and rewarding experience for student and professional volunteers. The Medical Internship/Electives in Kenya program offers you the great chance to extend your help and skills to others as well as gain relevant practical medical experience and first-hand medical care in the country of Kenya.
Generally you will assist/support the doctor/dentists or clinician in the normal routine of medical work e.g. taking vital signs, dressing wounds, taking patients history, counseling patients, providing assurance and moral support to patients' family, disbursing minor drugs tasks like taking vital signs, dressing wounds, administering shots, drawing blood, holding babies while they are being treated, helping to screen and organize patients, assisting staff with getting medicines/supplies.
Highlights
We have wonderful international internship placement opportunities for dentists and dental technicians and hygienists in a number of Kenyan hospital dental units. The medical clinics treat a wide range of conditions like malaria, colds/flu, injuries, pregnancy and childbirth.
Medical and Dental Interns perform and generally helping out in whatever capacity they might need you.
Our health internships are open to healthcare students as well as pre-med, pre-dentistry and pre-nursing students. As an overseas medical internship (medical students, nursing students or intern), you will work with local staff in support of the health care efforts.
A student ID is required at the start of the internship. All prospective medical interns also need to submit a resume showing their preparedness for the internship including any relevant college courses taken, and what they hope to achieve from the medical internship placement in Kenya.
