Description

A beautiful Kibbutz in Israel, located east of Haifa. Founded in 1936, this kibbutz now has 1000 people of many nationalities. Volunteers between 18 and 29 can stay 2 to 5 months, working in exchange for room and board - they usually have between 20 and 28 volunteers at any time from all over the world. Work can be in the kitchen, orchards, fish ponds, fish hatcheries, water lily ponds, dairy, dining room, nursing home, or children's zoo. Both English and Hebrew are widely spoken.

Volunteers work one day per week with Ethiopian refugees - work with children, playing games, teaching English, and helping with homework. Volunteers work 7 hours a day, 6 days a week, and will receive 2 additional vacation days/month. Meals are provided as well as small amount of weekly pocket money for personal expenses. There is an on-site library, museum, swimming pool, ball courts, disco, post office, general store, market, and optometrist.
