Description

Maventy Health International (MHI) is a 100% volunteer driven organization, which has projects in Northern Madadascar. It supports development and improvement of health care delivery in the area. Primary project center is at Centre de Sante de Base Niveau II- Anivorano Nord, but it also collaborateds with hospitals in Diego Suarez and Hellville- Nosy be where it supports the development of the pediatric units. Because the organization is volunteering driven, each volunteers is requested to cover their own travel expenses. Each volunteer usually raises funds for his/her expenses through personal, or MHI assisted, fundraising. MHI provides assistance with fundraising efforts through online fundraising.

In general, Maventy Health International is managed completely on a volunteer basis. It is one of the founding principles of the organization, to run the organization free of charge. From website management, accounting, application processing, marketing, IT development, networking, to administration, each member of the organization or volunteer donates his/her time based on dedication and availability. Neither the C.E.O., nor the board members, nor the administrators, nor the international volunteers receive any stipend or salary. All work is based on good will and voluntary work. Any extra funds raised or any monetary proceeds or other donations always go towards supporting and sustaining the projects themselves. All endeavors that have been accomplished have been done thanks to spectacular dedication and contribution from previous volunteers. Some volunteers have participated for a few weeks, others for years. Your dedication is up to you.

Thus, every volunteer is expected to raise their personal funds, and cover travel related expenses.

Highlights

Maventy projects are all "hands on" experiences. Our educational training begins before a volunteer's departure, and the rest is all practical experience. Volunteers have ample opportunity to be involved with challenging decisions. Depending on the particular individual's skills and background, the volunteer can engage in various levels of activities. Most of the projects are related to health care and medical care.

Medical volunteers participate in patient assessment, care and treatment at the various project's sites. It has been an invaluable clinical experience for many medical volunteers, as they encounter a vast range of medically challenging problems and their clinical skills are tested in nearly every medical encounter.

Teachers, engineers, and other volunteers have similar experiences in that they face direct challenges and need to search out the most appropriate solutions. Guidance, cooperation and support is always available.

Cost Include Description:

Volunteers are responsible for the arrangements and costs of their international travel. Commonly, volunteers either raise or have funds to cover their travel expenses to Madagascar. Given the non-profit status of the organization, participation in projects allows volunteers to consider having their expenses considered for tax deduction. This varies from state to state, and from country to country. Each volunteer has the final responsibility to claim only what is allowed depending on their local jurisdictions.

As volunteers come from various continents and participate during different travel seasons, costs of travel will likely vary from person to person. In general, flights may vary from 400 USD/~350Euro in Africa to 4,000 USD /~3500 Euro during peak season from North America or Europe. We highly encourage volunteers to book flight as soon as possible. Some volunteers book flights up to 6 months in advance, and thereby decrease their expenses.
