PED Volunteer Program: Want to go to Uganda this Summer?
Location: Uganda: Fort Portal, Jinja
Program Duration: 1-2 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 1-2 weeks
Dates: June 27 - July 11
Description
We are looking for college volunteers who want to experience a life changing experience.
Last year's participants worked in both an elementary and high school. Our volunteers did an amazing job building relationships and projects. At St. James Elementary School we built a latrine (bathroom), a foundation for a new school, playground equipment, a soccer field, and we also purchased textbooks for each grade/subject. Some truly unforgettable moments took place at Tooro High School as well. Our volunteers built a chicken coup, that housed 300 chickens, with the intention that the school would sell the eggs to generate a consistent income for the schools. The volunteers also provided school supplies, a movie night, redesigned the girls dormitories and administration office, and purchased the soccer team new soccer jerseys/equipment.
Highlights
On these trips, volunteers will be immersed in the beauty of the Ugandan culture, while also participating in the physical building of projects for schools to promote sustainability.
