Description
Soccer speaks a thousand languages, and Fijian is one of them. They live for soccer here, and your love of the game will make you a much-welcomed member of the community. Match up against local teams, coach the village kids, and contribute to a variety of meaningful community service projects as you immerse yourself in Fijian island life.
Welcome to our Base
Your home while you are here will be the Rustic Pathways Eco-Lodge Base, which is tucked in the hills south of Nadi and has beautiful views of the surrounding farms and ocean. It is the perfect place to jump-start your days of service, soccer and sunshine. The Eco-Lodge is also a hive of activity, and your evenings will be filled with traditional meke dances and kava ceremonies, as well as laid-back ping-pong tournaments, games of pool, and activities organized by the friendly staff.
Soccer and Service
Our Eco-Lodge is home to a variety of service initiatives, and each morning your Soccer and Service group will contribute to one of them. You may teach English or art at the schools, help paint and improve local homes, or cook meals for those in need. Grab your soccer ball during the afternoons and coach at the schools, conduct skills clinics with the local children, or join in a scrimmage that will pit you and your fellow students against local teams and villagers. We'll adjust the itinerary to take advantage of any local soccer events, so be prepared to join a local match or test your skills in a shoot-out competition. You'll also take a trip to the soft sands of Natadola Beach for a big game of beach soccer.
Sun and Sand
When you head off the fields, you'll have a chance to explore this island paradise. Shop at the markets in Nadi, relax in natural hot springs, and enjoy the beautiful ocean views. On the weekend, take a day to relax at the beach or join in optional activities such as scuba diving or island hopping.
Who Should Come?
This is a laid-back program for students who want to combine a love of soccer with meaningful community service South Pacific style. Whether it's your first time kicking around a ball or you are being recruited to play Division I, come and join in the fun! You should be in good physical shape and have an enthusiasm for sport, community service, and cultural exchange.
Soccer and Service in Fiji is great as a stand-alone program or can easily connect with any of our other programs in the South Pacific.
