Description
Why Learn French in Africa?
Learning French in Africa is an excellent option if you want to make development in Africa part of a long term career.
There are over thirty French speaking countries in Africa. Far fewer development professionals speak French than English. By learning French you are greatly increasing your options for development related work in Africa. Not only is it an advantage, it is normally required for development work with the United Nations, Medecins Sans Frontieres, & The Red Cross in Francophone Africa and Haiti.
French proficiency combined with development experience in African communities is an invaluable asset.
Highlights
In Douala you can learn French while volunteering.
Whether you are starting with the basics or building upon previous French knowledge, you can take classes with us. Once in-country, you will write a placement test to determine your current level of French and be taught accordingly.
You will learn French in an individual or small group setting (1-5 students). All teachers are university-trained French teachers. You will learn through reading & writing, the use of media, and field trips where you are guided in actively practicing your French.
Standard French class is two hours, three times per week. Intensive French class is two hours, five times per week.
