Description

Volunteers are needed to assist teachers in various elementary level subjects including English, math, science, physical activity, and art. Volunteers will receive orientation and guidance from the school principal. Volunteers can compliment materials with their own background and knowledge.

Examples of Activities:
* Learn about the social and economic factors affecting education in Ghana
* Teach English, math, science, physical activity, and/or art
* Assist children with homework
* Run extra-curricular activities and sports for children

Highlights

Typical Volunteer Hours: Volunteers typically teach during the school day, which ends in the early afternoon. If you would like to volunteer for less hours, this is ok. In sum, your schedule can be flexible, just ensure that you arrange this with your supervisor in Ghana so that it is clear when you are available for teaching.

When: Classes are in session from the beginning of September until mid-December, from the beginning of January until the end of April, and from mid-May to mid-July. Dates vary slightly from year to year.

Qualifications

Confident in public speaking and addressing groups of fifteen or more people. Previous teaching experience is an asset.
