Description

Volunteers will be involved in a range of activities supporting community-based programs for widows, orphans & vulnerable families engaging in our innovative projects that bring Opportunity, Education, Empowerment and hope to those whose lives have been devastated through poverty, HIV & Aids.

The volunteer experience can be tailored to suit each individual's skills & interests so that they gain a broad experience within our projects in Zambia including:
- Weekly day center for widows & vulnerable families
- Support groups for children with HIV/Aids
- School for orphaned children
- Home based care program visiting the sick & dying
- Empowerment training program for widows
- Youth outreach scheme

Highlights

Volunteer accommodation is provided within the beautiful setting of Lifespring Farm, Ndola, with swimming pool, and sports facilities. During their free time volunteers will be able to have the opportunity to explore the local game reserves or to take time out to travel across Zambia visiting the majestic Victoria Falls & going on safari to see the African wildlife in larger game reserves.

Qualifications

There are no specific qualifications required by volunteers just a willingness to join in, a flexible attitude, a helping hand, a smiling face, a sensitive approach and an open heart. We offer opportunities for people to use their life skills as well as any formal qualifications.

We have volunteer opportunities within our school for orphaned children. This is open to people who have teaching experience or those with any child/youth work experience and qualifications. Volunteers can use their skills in art, dance, drama, music, story telling, sport etc.

We have volunteer opportunities within our community based HIV/Aids support programs working with widows, orphans and vulnerable families. This is particularly open to anyone with specific medical, health care, health education experience, training &/or qualifications.

Volunteers will need to use our Lifespring bicycles to cycle to and from the projects.
