Description

Excellent resume-boosting internship in the heart of Madurai at a state-of-the-art dental practice. This is an unbelievable opportunity to gain valuable experience in your field in a different culture where practices may differ considerably from what you're used to in your home country. Work directly with the owner of the bustling office to learn new aspects of dental work that will increase your skills and broaden your knowledge of this medical field. The experience you gain will also be an invaluable entry on your CV or resume. You don't need any qualifications to do this placement but the dentist/owner of the practice does require you to have a passion for helping others!

Project Overview
Our dentistry work experience placement is based in the delightful and bustling town of Madurai in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. The owner of the dental practice trained in England and he has achieved many awards for services to dentistry. He is dedicated to serving the public and in particular helping the poor and needy. Not only does he have a state of the art surgery, he also has a well equipped mobile unit that goes out every day to promote oral hygiene awareness. The mobile unit also visits the government schools in Tamil Nadu to give free treatment to the students. Recently they launched their own brand of toothpaste!

Work Content:
The areas that the dental practice specialises in are:
* Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics
* Endodontics and Conservative Dentistry
* Periodontics
* Perdodontics
* Oral and Maillofacial Surgery
* Prosthodontics
* Implantology
* Cosmetic Dentistry

Within the dental practice you will take care of the patients, work with the dental hygienist and help with counselling.

You will also have the opportunity to go out with the mobile unit and assist the team with educating the school children on the importance of oral hygiene and teaching them preventative measures. You will also get involved with screening for diseases.

Your working hours are usually subject to a shift rota. When you will beat the surgery you will have one session in the morning and one in the evenings, Monday to Fridays only. You will have the afternoon off to rest or explore the city! However you will need to be flexible when you go out with the mobile unit as your hours will vary day to day.

All of the staff here are very friendly and helpful and they will make you feel extremely welcome.
