Description
Orphans are usually deprived of opportunities that are necessary for their emotional, mental, and academic development. Through education and compassion, children are empowered to challenge a life of further poverty and exploitation. World Endeavors volunteers focus on educational training which consists primarily of English language classes. Volunteers' active participation in programs such as health education, games, drawing, and painting is encouraged. With such a variety of ways to participate, the orphanage experience with World Endeavors provides volunteers many meaningful ways to approach service.
Highlights
Upon arrival in Guatemala, World Endeavors participants are met at the airport and given transportation to their volunteering location. They will receive an orientation that will familiarize them with the town and the surrounding area, Guatemalan culture, and their program.
Participants will stay with local Guatemalan host families. Host families are very welcoming and enjoy having visitors stay with them. All host family accommodation includes 3 meals per day. Living in a host family setting is the best way to practice your Spanish, and participants frequently make friendships that can last a lifetime.
