Overview:
The Palo Verde National Park is part of the Tempisque Conservation Area, which contains much of the valley of the Tempisque River and covers an area of 45,492 acres in Guanacaste Province. The Park is dedicated to the conservation of floodplain, marshes, limestone ridges, and seasonal pools.
Highlights
Youth Discovery volunteers work closely with youth volunteers in Costa Rica through YCIs partner organization, Reto Juvenil Internacional (RJI). A key component of YCIs work is combining the energy and skills of its youth volunteers with those of local youth. On project, you will have the opportunity to use your skills and interests to mobilize local youth, interact directly with the community, and be fully involved in innovative environmental programming
Key Activities May Include:
* Improve the conditions of the park by assisting Park Rangers with maintenance and construction of infrastructure and trails
* Strengthen environmental education by organizing workshops on recycling and waste management with youth, adults and children inside the park and surrounding communities
* Promote environmental conservation and protection

Qualifications
* Experience working in a team with demonstrated leadership skills
* Relevant degree in Environmental Science, Conservation, Ecology or the Humanities
* Previous working or living experience in a cross-cultural setting or in a developing country is an asset
* Ability to communicate in Spanish and/or willingness to learn before and/or during project

YCIs volunteer participants are required to fundraise and/or contribute a minimum of USD1,800 to contribute to YCIs global youth development programs worldwide.
